Marilyn I’m so sad you’ve left us. Quick of wit, straight forward and no nonsense with people’s bullshit, gregarious and funny. Back in the 70’s you did weird things like Bastille Day and Trick or Treat. I’ll never forget Trish the Old English Sheepdog and your ancient record player. You taught me French for a bit, I’m sure I was a terrible pupil. I loved you very much and I know you loved me as well. You were my only aunt, but definitely the best aunt I could have had. I’ll miss you very much.

I probably spent less than twenty-four hours in the company of Marilyn in all her years, mostly due to the distance across the seas’, but I will remember her with a glass of wine in hand, a smile and a twinkle in her eyes, recounting stories of her adventures on her travels and in life!

When I first met her, she offered to take me on a tour of Te Papa Mueseum in Wellington as she was working there as a guide at the time. She had so much knowledge of all the exhibitions, especially those specifically to do with New Zealand, and was more than happy to share that. She keeped me engaged, and I felt really welcomed and special having my own tour for the morning.

When Marilyn last came to the UK, she met up with Mum & Dad, and myself in Kingston for lunch, down on the water front of the Thames, and again recalled some great exploits of her current trip through Europe. We had such a laugh together. It’s a shame I only had an hour and a half to spend in her company that day as I had to return to work. It’s sad that was our last time spent together…

This is the Marilyn we will remember.

May she rest in peace and give our regards to Harry.

Sending all our love to Steph & Martyn, and her loving family and friends.❤️💜🩷

I knew Marilyn back in the late 80s, when along with me, she was on the first newly established Board of Trustees for Wellington Girls College. Her skills, expertise and knowledge were so important for us. As the HR role was a tricky new one for the Board.
We were lucky to have her. And she was easy to work with and so good humoured too. I’m sorry we didn’t keep in touch

The family will miss her hugely. I send you all my condolences
