TRIBUTES

Nyssa Lewis-Smith

Dearest Loma,
I am so sad to hear you have left your earthly life. The world has lost such a bright gorgeous sparkle. You will no doubt be flying high among many other treasured souls up in the heavens.
I feel so honoured that our life paths intertwined. You were part of my early teaching journey at Northland Childspace when I was in training and then our paths crossed once more, same place years later. Your beautiful smile was infectious, you oozed such a genuine gentle warmth, and your hugs were like being encompassed in a warm comfy blanket. The way you affectionately called all of us “Darling” will forever live on in my mind. You were such an amazing teacher – kind, caring, thoughtful, gentle, and so loving. So natural in your role. All of those children you cared for and taught are better for having been cared for by you. I am so saddened that I won’t see you again. I feel truly blessed to have met you and worked alongside you, Loma. You are a gorgeous soul.
Ko te whaea te takere o te waka
Mothers are like the hull of the canoe, they are the heart of the family.
To your dear whānau, my condolences to you all. Loma was such a treasure in this world. My heart goes out to you and I hope your hearts heal with time.
Tofa la Loma xx
Arohanui,
Nyssa
