Professor Rolf Brednich

Rolf Wilhelm Brednich died peacefully at home on Thursday morning at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Rolf leaves behind his beloved wife Brigitte, his loving children Anke and Carsten and their partners Rolf and Gabi, and his adored and adoring grand children Jan, Kai, Josie, Ben and Elaine. Rolf came to NZ retiring after a distinguished career as a Professor of Cultural Anthropology to become an expert fly fisherman and keen golfer. NZ became his second home. Everyone who knew him knows he was a fine, prolific scholar and true gentleman of the old school. A service to celebrate Rolf’s life will be held in St Patrick’s Church, 372/376 Makara Road, on Wednesday 6 December at 1pm, followed by a natural burial.
