TRIBUTES

Merron Wilkes

I visited Robin for many years, first at the MASH house and then at Huntleigh. I always enjoyed my visits, and I learned a great deal from helping her with some of the challenges that she faced.
Kind regards from Merron Wilkes, Podiatrist.

I cared for Robin at Huntleigh home. I wasn’t aware at the time that her middle name was “Joy”, but it strikes me now how fitting of a name that is for her. She had the most gorgeous smile and I remember the highlight of her week was having a cup of tea and a phone call with her sister every Thursday.

She loved her family so.

I share that same familial love when I go to visit my Grandma Dawn Wood (Wife to the late Stewart Wood) every Thursday dinner.

It was only last Thursday that my Gran told me that she had found Robin’s obituary and we pieced it together, that I had been taking care of my long lost cousin! I am Kath Wood’s Daughter and the second youngest Grandchild of Stewart and Dawn Wood.

Her death saddened me so, even before I learnt of this family connection. Robin was often an absolute joy to work with and would ask after my family and whether I had any kids.

I just know she would have delighted to find out we were related by blood. Someday when I have children of my own, I will tell them of Robin and her beautiful smile. My care and love for her will continue far past any grave and her memory will be kept alive for generations yet.
