I have lived across the road from Lisa in Elizabeth St for 30 years and have observed her quiet, unassuming presence tending her garden and walking to and from the market. We would nod in recognition or sometimes actually say “hello” that seemed enough for both of us…a cordial acquaintance that was reassuring but with no expectations. I will miss Lisa’s presence and send my condolences to her family who will certainly feel their loss. Ngā mihi nui Kia whanau.

Dear Lee and Jeff
Thank you for sharing your Mum with me, she became a dear friend to all of us, and we are blessed to know that she was as fond of us as we were of her. It will be hard to go out and not say hi to her. I will miss seeing her in her garden or walking to the supermarket. She was one amazing, independent and sometimes stubborn lady, and we will miss her beautiful face. I am so glad that we learned to communicate with our hearts, and words were not always necessary. We are thinking of you all, and we will carry her in our hearts where we carry all those people who we have loved.

To our long-standing and dear friend Lee Shun: Kylie, Charlie and family join me in bringing you & your family sympathy on this sad occasion, but also the wish that your warm memories of your mother’s long life remain with you for the future. I recall the first time I met her – in that upstairs cafe with her friends, so many years ago? And how wonderful those final few days were for her – and you. XX Margaret Evans
