TRIBUTES

Doris was a wonderful woman, i remember back to the mid 80’s when Doris and Henry owned Foodland New World in Napier at the Balmoral Shopping Centre, Doris aways had a huge smile on her face and was so friendly to customers and staff. I have very fond memories, Im sure she will now be “hand in hand” with Henry. x

To Alison; Graeme; Sharon & family.

Tapping this out on my phone in Chengdu as I wait to board my train.

Over the last few days I have been trying to put into words my thoughts after hearing your mum had passed away.

Your mum was such a kind and gentle person.

Family was important your mum.
My visits to see her at the rest home always included discussions about my family and what my kids were up to.

I discovered your mum’s liking for roast duck. An offer to bring roast duck on my next visit would bring the broadest of smiles. So I knew a pick up from KC Cafe before my visit was always appreciated.

I will always remember her smile.

I am sorry that I am so far away and cannot be with you to celebrate her life in person.

Like you all I will miss her.

Thomas

A Tribute to My Former Mother‑in‑Law

Mum was a New Zealander, and I came all the way from China.
She welcomed me with open arms into her family. Within this household, I could always feel the genuine warmth and deep closeness shared among every family member, as well as Mum’s unconditional love.

I have always considered myself so fortunate to have her as my mother. My own birth mother passed away many years ago, yet she saw me as her very own son, no different from her biological children.

I hold countless precious memories of her. I will forever remember her gentle smile and her quiet wisdom.
I do not feel overwhelming sorrow today. Mum has completed her long journey on this earth and returned home to her Creator.

I am endlessly grateful for this loving, kind‑hearted mother I was blessed with in this lifetime.
If there is a next life, I would still choose her to be my mother once again
